Andrea Mccoy
Mother, Wife, Writer, Cook.

The Salt and Stone is a nod to the essence of cooking, but also to the lovely little desert town I call home. Nestled below the Cascade Mountains in the Pacific Northwest and an agricultural hub to the world; Yakima’s bounty of local produce provides endless inspiration.

The food I love is rarely fancy, but it’s hearty and fresh. The recipes you’ll find here are dishes meant to be shared. The rhythm of cooking; the chopping and stirring, tasting and salting brings such pleasure to my life. But gathering the people I love around the table, no matter how simple or elaborate, is my favorite part of cooking.

We live on a hobby farm that I affectionately call the McCoy Petting Zoo. We’ve got chickens and sheep, cows, a dog, a couple of kitties and even a goldfish or two not to mention the three wild kids running around this place. I am a home cook with no formal training or experience. But I’ve loved to cook since I was a kid and I’ve been gathering my people since I was a little girl whether it was tea parties for dolls or a Thanksgiving meal for 25 in my college dorm. Cooking is my love letter to the world and this incredible gift of a life I get to be part of.

Join me here at my virtual table. I’ll pour you a glass of wine and turn on some Mumford and Sons and we can make some food together. It will be good for us both.
